The year is 1927, and Shanghai teeters on the edge of revolution.

After sacrificing her relationship with Roma to protect him from the blood feud, Juliette has been a girl on the warpath. One wrong move, and her cousin will step in to usurp her place as the Scarlet Gang’s heir. The only way to save the boy she loves from the wrath of the Scarlets is to have him want her dead for murdering his best friend in cold blood. If Juliette were actually guilty of the crime Roma believes she committed, his rejection might sting less.

Roma is still reeling from Marshall’s death, and his cousin Benedikt will barely speak to him. Roma knows it’s his fault for letting the ruthless Juliette back into his life, and he’s determined to set things right—even if that means killing the girl he hates and loves with equal measure.

Then a new monstrous danger emerges in the city, and though secrets keep them apart, Juliette must secure Roma’s cooperation if they are to end this threat once and for all. Shanghai is already at a boiling point: The Nationalists are marching in, whispers of civil war brew louder every day, and gangster rule faces complete annihilation. Roma and Juliette must put aside their differences to combat monsters and politics, but they aren’t prepared for the biggest threat of all: protecting their hearts from each other.

My Opinion:

I really loves „Our violent delights“ and is was soo excited for the second book. The similarity to Romeo and Juliet has me i the edge of my seat. You suffer with the characters and you can’t help but pray for a happy ending. The Cover from the second book is quit similar to the first one and one can easily see that they belong together. The end of book one destroyed me and that’s why I started with the second part straight away. Chloe Gong has a wonderful, tense and emotional writing style. You are immediately back in the Story and I couldn’t put the book down for a second. The pages just flew by and within a day I had finished the book. The setting in the 1920s in Shanghai is very interesting and, in addition to the characters, it ensures that it never gets boring. Volume two has some similarities to volume one, but that didn’t bother me. The whole book is full of action, romantic and dramatic. Absolutely worthy of Romeo and Juliet.

Here we are accompanying Roma and Juliette again and I was excited to see how the author will dissolve the end of volume one. I love the moments between Roma and Juliette. My heart melted because the two are just meant for each other. The love between these two was noticeable on every page and you just cheered for the two of them. Even if I like them together, Roma and Juliette can also stand completely on their own. Both are strong, brave, resourceful, and so much more. In this volume the characters come to life even more. They feel so real.

After reading I was breathless and absolutely speechless. I didn’t know what to feel, how to deal with the end. It couldn’t have ended any other way and I was absolutely satisfied with it. Chloe Gong has managed to give a great series an absolutely worthy ending. Whoever liked „Our violent delights“ will adore „Our violent ends“. This is one of the best series I’ve read lately.

Definitely a Must-Read
